G.W. Bush's Sick “Movie”
POLSKI
Bestia uśpiona w mojej głowie,
O krwawej zemście słodko śni,
I każdy z wrogów mych Wam powie,
Nie budźcie jej dopóki śpi.
Lecz kiedy w końcu zbudzi się,
Uciekaj póki jeszcze możesz,
Gdyż bój śmiertelny zacznie się,
W którym przegranym będzie człowiek.
Ropa naftowa kusi mnie,
I każdy wnet się o tym dowie,
Że chociaż z wierzchu ciągle człowiek,
To chciwa bestia wewnątrz tkwi.
Pod sztandarami Boga Ojca,
I w imię pokojowych celów,
Zebrawszy koalicji wojska,
Pójdę wyrzynać Saracenów.
I niechaj wszyscy, gdziekolwiek są,
Pamiętać raczą z łaski swojej,
Że Stany Wielkie, Zjednoczone,
Mocarstwem pokojowym są.
ENGLISH
The beast that’s sleeping in my head
Dreams sweetly of revenge in red,
And every enemy of mine
Will tell you: let it sleep this time.
But when at last it wakes from sleep,
Run for your life while you still can,
For soon a deadly fight will start,
And man himself will lose his heart.
The lure of oil is calling me,
And soon the world will plainly see:
Though human on the outside still,
A greedy beast is lurking within.
Beneath the banner of God the Father,
And in the name of peaceful aims,
I gather up my coalition forces
And march to slaughter the Saracens.
And let the whole wide world take heed:
Remember this, if you please:
The United States of America
Is a peace-loving superpower.
After another US attack in the Persian Gulf, President G.W. Bush, explaining on camera why he had unleashed yet another war, stated that the United States of America was a peace-loving superpower. It sounded so absurd to me that I could not leave it without comment. And that is how this poem came to be.
